“Fin de función”. Éste es el título del gran mural realizado por la artista Elisa Capdevila en la antigua ubicación del Talía (avenida del Paral·lel, 100). La obra pretende visibilizar la memoria histórica del espacio, que fue un importante referente cultural para el vecindario de Sant Antoni.
El mural de gran formato ocupa dos medianeras del solar en el que antiguamente se levantaba este equipamiento, que se inauguró el año 1900 y permaneció activo hasta 1987. La iniciativa nace de un proyecto comunitario que han impulsado diversas entidades agrupadas en la Plataforma Sant Antoni Recuperem el Talia.
“Fin de función” es una intervención de la artista barcelonesa Elisa Capdevila y ha sido comisariada y producida por Street Art Barcelona, tras un proceso participativo con las entidades del barrio para escoger el tema representado: una actriz que se desmaquilla al final de una representación teatral. Es una metáfora del legado cultural del teatro Talía, que fue uno de los epicentros durante la época dorada del Paral·lel, cuando la avenida estaba llena de cafés, teatros, music-hall, circos y cabarés. Una escena que habla del final, de una despedida o un momento de transición. Al mismo tiempo, la imagen es un homenaje a todos los profesionales del mundo del espectáculo y reivindica el protagonismo de las mujeres en la escena teatral, así como en la lucha vecinal para la recuperación del espacio.

“End of the Show.” This is the title of the large mural created by the artist Elisa Capdevila at the former site of the Talia Theatre (Avinguda del Paral·lel, 100). The work aims to highlight the historical memory of the space, which was an important cultural landmark for the Sant Antoni neighborhood.
The large-format mural covers two party walls of the site where this venue once stood, which opened in 1900 and remained active until 1987. The initiative stems from a community project promoted by various organizations grouped under the Sant Antoni Recuperem el Talia Platform.
“End of the Show” is an intervention by the Barcelona-based artist Elisa Capdevila and was curated and produced by Street Art Barcelona, following a participatory process with neighborhood organizations to choose the theme: an actress removing her makeup at the end of a theatrical performance. It’s a metaphor for the cultural legacy of the Talía Theatre, which was one of the epicenters during the golden age of Paral·lel, when the avenue was full of cafes, theatres, music halls, circuses, and cabarets. A scene that speaks of an ending, a farewell, or a moment of transition. At the same time, the image is a tribute to all professionals in the performing arts and celebrates the leading role of women in theatre, as well as in the neighborhood’s struggle to reclaim the space.
